Testimonials and References
We knew we wanted a doula to assist us during labor and delivery when a friend told us how helpful her doula had been during the birth of her first child. Ginny shared a lot of information with us prior to delivery that was not explained to us by medical staff. She answered any question we asked and shared some of her pregnancy books with us. She helped us create and review our birth preferences document, provided visualization exercises, and nursing education prior to delivery. The most important things we learned from Ginny were to communicate with our doctor our preferences and be flexible during labor and delivery. As much as we planned how we wanted our labor and delivery to go, being flexible allowed us to work though the items we could not control (i.e. our doctor not being on call). Ginny provided guidance during labor to help manage the pain and provided great encouragement to us during delivery. After the birth of our son, Ginny stayed and made sure nursing was started successfully. Thank you so much for all your support and encouragement during this once in a lifetime experience! —Alicia & John
Ginny, you were fantastic! Just knowing you were there helped me feel safe and gave me strength. Thank you for helping me communicate my needs and desires to the hospital staff. Without your comforting presence and expertise, the birth of my child would have been a very different experience.—Rachel E.
Thanks for being our rock. It was reassuring to know that you wouldn't leave my side, and you helped me to stay calm and focused. We love you! —Warda and Tim
My wife and I had decided that we wanted to have a completely natural delivery without any interventions. After some research, we found out that having a doula present seemed to be extremely helpful in terms of pain control. We also thought it would be great to have someone there who could give us information that the doctors and nurses might not. After looking around and meeting some local doulas, we decided on Ginny. She really seemed like a member of the family right away.
Ginny was great from the start. She came to our house several times to talk to my wife about the birth plan, pain control measures, and lots of other things. Her knowledge of the birthing process was extensive to say the least. She talked to us about some things we could do if things weren’t going quite as planned, positions my wife could take to help turn the baby around for example. She also provided a lot of great material for us to read that we would not have known about. When my wife went into labor, Ginny was there immediately. She came to our home and helped with pain control for my wife and was a great support to her. She accompanied us to the hospital and never left our side during the labor.
I cannot say enough about Ginny. She was an incredible help to my wife, and it turned out that she was also an incredible help to me as well. The labor experience was very intense and I really don’t know what we would have done without her there. Several times I felt like I was nearing the end of my rope worrying about my wife, but Ginny helped me stay calm and focused. Her experience, calm demeanor, sense of humor, and extensive knowledge were invaluable.—Mike F.
